Position: Full-Time Board-Certified Music Therapist

General Information
Music Therapy Connections is seeking a board-certified music therapist to fulfill the duties of a full-time music therapist within a private practice setting during the course of the primary therapist’s 12-week maternity leave. At the end of this maternity leave, the primary therapist will be returning to working half-time. The individual covering the maternity leave will continue working with half of the clients/contracts from the maternity leave coverage and will take on additional clients to return their case load to a full-time position.
The individual filling this position will work with a team of six board-certified music therapists: Molly Robitaille, Emma Harmon, Cicely McCain, Jessica Smith, Katelyn Kratz, and Rachel Rambach and will be under the direct supervision of on-site studio manager, Molly Robitaille, and business owners, Katelyn Kratz and Rachel Rambach.
The individual hired for this position will complete a full onboarding and orientation with the business prior to spending their first weeks observing/co-treating with the board-certified music therapist going on maternity leave.
Requirements
Applicants will be required to meet and show proof of the following before beginning the position:
- Completion of music therapy course work
- Music Therapy Board Certification
- Up-to-date immunizations
- Background check
- Car and valid driver’s license
- Proof of IL Licensure prior to June 1, 2025

Populations – This positions in Illinois will work in both group and 1:1 settings, primarily with children within two school districts, as well as a few adults at a day center. Hours/Benefits – This is a full-time, salaried position; Music Speaks defines full-time as 4 – 4.5 days in the field per week, plus office time.

Job Requirements –
- Must have Board Certification (MT-BC) from the Certification Board of Music Therapy (CBMT) before working in the field.
Job Description –
Therapeutic Mindset: Regularly meet with a group of music therapists with a variety of clinical backgrounds to brainstorm creative and proactive strategies to strengthen client partnerships. Benefit from frequent 1:1 connections with supervisors to receive feedback and work on critical thinking skills.
Quality: Individualized and group supervision allows for continuous, active practice and growth of clinical skills. Use documentation that was created specifically for music therapy. Data collected informs future development and research.
Passion: Create a seat at the table with our partners to make music therapy advocacy more individualized and effective. Work alongside multiple disciplines while having the support from an entire team of music therapists to identify individual strengths and exercise therapeutic approaches.
